EEA to Launch ‘Europe’s State of Water 2024’ Report: A Call for Enhanced Water Resilience

The European Environment Agency (EEA) will unveil its Europe's State of Water 2024: The Need for Improved Water Resilience, report during an online launch event on Tuesday (15.10.24). The report presents the latest data on Europe's surface and groundwater conditions, underscoring the urgent need for strengthened water management strategies across the continent.

The report highlights three major challenges facing Europe’s water systems in the coming years:

  • protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems;  
  • achieving the zero-pollution ambition; 
  • adapting to water scarcity, drought and flood risks. 

Alongside these challenges, the report offers solutions and case studies designed to enhance Europe's water resilience. The launch of the report comes at a crucial time for European policymakers and environmental stakeholders, as the continent grapples with the growing impacts of climate change on its water systems.
