Our 2023 Annual Report is published, highlighting a year of both significant progress and formidable challenges in the effort to protect and enhance Europe’s water resources.

Throughout the year, we successfully championed key legislative advancements, including the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD) and the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). These developments send a clear message to polluters about their responsibility in preserving water quality. However, there were also setbacks, such as the postponement of the Water Resilience Initiative and the shelving of the Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products Regulation (SUR).

Despite these challenges, our commitment to advocating for water’s vital role in Europe’s future is unwavering. As the focus shifts towards resilience in 2024, we continue to put water resources at the forefront of Europe’s sustainability and economic strategies.
