The European Commission released the roadmap on the New Soil Strategy - healthy soil for a healthy life. The objective is to design a comprehensive and coherent policy framework to protect land and soil.

From our point of view, the strategy is missing key aspects linking healthy soils and water services. For example, the key role of healthy soil in groundwater protection both in term of quality and quantity is not addressed. It also refers to sewage sludge only to mention its possible pollution potential omitting entirely the multiple benefits it can bring (nutrients, organic matter).
