Structure
The General Assembly (GA) is the governing body of EUREAU. Decisions are proposed and executed by the Executive Committe (ExCom). Each member country is entitled to one seat on the Board. Decisions are usually made by consensus; if no consensus can be reached the minority opinion will be conveyed in addition to the majority opinion. The Presidency of EUREAU is assumed for a mandate of two years, with the possibility to renew the mandate once.
Three standing Commissions are in charge of elaborating EUREAU policy positions and report to the Board on their specialist areas. The commissions are made up by practitioners from drinking water and waste water companies and national associations. They provide forums for sharing and exchanging experiences and views on implementation of existing directives as well as policies relating to new directives, framework and strategies. These exchanges help formulate useful feedback and advice to the major European Institutions, member state governments, and regulators.
Parallel to these Commissions, the General Assembly may appoint ad-hoc groups to address specific issues during a limited period.
