Our People

EUREAU’s strategy is decided on by a General assembly and a Board representing members from the European Union and EFTA (European Free Trade Association) member states and the organisation is run on a day-to-day basis by its Secretary General. Its President is elected for a two year period from among its members.

Three standing commissions are in charge of the development of EUREAU’s policy positions and of assisting in the implementation of new EU water and water-related policies and strategies. They also provide expertise and technological and managerial knowledge of water-related services at EU level and act as forums for EUREAU members to share and exchange experiences and views. The commissions deal respectively with Drinking Water, Waste Water and Legislation and Economic Affairs.

Parallel to these commissions, ad-hoc expert groups are appointed to address specific issues (e.g. Water Blueprint, priority substances, climate change and adaptation, water and agriculture) during a specific period.
